Looking to pull the trigger

Entropy.

TL;DR: Switched from apple to andriod, specical circumstances lead me back to apple, for it's secuity, ip rating, and software support period. I'm asking one last time before I pull the trigger: Is there anything out there that can compete?

I've been searching for a Sub-$800 phone to serve as my daily driver for a bit now, and because of my slightly erractic wants/needs (Long software support period, Relitave secuirty, Ip68  rating, good build qualty) I've switched to a side I never thought I would again: Team Apple. Turns out the best you can get with andriod is the pixel 5, and that isn't even rated for any dust resistance. So, In a few months, after the iphone 12 goes on sale, I think I'll be pulling the trigger, but just in case, I wanted to ask one time: Is there any andriod manufacturer that can compete with apple for security, Software support period, and ip rating?

I am NOT a professional and a lot of the time what I'm saying is based on limited knowledge and experience. I'm going to be incorrect at times.

Pixel 5.

Realistically most companies are starting to guarantee 3 years of support. Not sure how often you replace your phone, but that's good enough for most.

You're wrong about the IP rating. That's what the first number is; dust ingress.

Not sure what you mean by security though. You should be practicing your own precautions when it comes to that, not depending on others.

Correct me if I`m wrong, but isn't there more iCloud hacks than Google cloud storage?? I would say Android/Google's security is better than Apples.

I'm looking at it from a general standpoint, not from just icloud/google cloud

I mean, Andriod is Open source right? While Apple isn't. that should give Apple an advatage there right? Also, On Andriod you can download third-party app stores, and app screenings for the play store aren't as effective iirc. Plus, Apple is Usually faster on the jump to patch security issues, compared to google. Three major things, without even doing research real research.

Malicious apps get added to Apple store all the time. Open source is generally better than 1st party because the community looks after it and when there is an issue, you have hundreds, if not thousands of people working on diagnosing and fixing it rather than a few people who may not even care until it starts to blow up in there face.

Nope in the slightest something being open source does not mean it has more security holes are is less secure in general, as with closed source you could say that there are security holes that we simply dont know about as we dont have the source code =]

And no one is telling you or forcing you to download any thir-party stores or apps from third party sites you just happen to have that ability while you dont on Apple

ty but, Long software support period. lol

iirc Samsung recently have been chopping off the length of their support periods. Now it's down to something like two years. I'm looking for at least 4 years out of my phone, provided that everything goes well- Hence why I mentioned the pixel 5, and how it wasn't exatly right for me with only 3 years of support

Not really. If you think about it, Apple has a huge install base, so it's still going to be targeted, regardless of how hard it is to crack. Nothing is completely safe. On top of that, people will have a false sense of security thinking they're safer, so naturally people with malicious intent will target them because they're easy prey.

You don't have to install third party app stores. Or apps that haven't been vetted in the play store. Both stores have issues with malware; just be careful and if you're really that paranoid, just download verified apps.

I mean, then that just makes one of the points of going andriod moot. When you buy a sports car, You do know that being capiable of going a higher speed can be dangerous, and you're more likely to get seriously injured or killed by it, but Isn't being able to go faster part of the appeal of a sports car?
