Keyboard upgrade

NotABigGamer
Go to solution Solved by Dr0y,

I didn't like the anne pro 2 I got so I could not recommend it to you.

I have the k552 and it's the same as yours ... really noisy and quite annoying to use.  I did put it apart and tried to silence it ... did not have any lube when I did that so it was not very successful. I might give it another try at making it better, I now have lube, switch opener, neoprene sheet to dampen the insides and I might plasti-dip the plate.  Also if your board is recent you might not have to desolder anything as some are swappable ...

Seriously you should really save some more and just get the gmmk ... for the price it's an awesome board.

I was considering upgrading my current keyboard (the red dragon k552). My budget is around 50 or 60 usd.

No numpad

What don't you like about the redragon k552 ?

I would say save some money and get something way better ... a ducky one two mini or a durgod taurus k320 ... or get an hotswappable board like the gmmk and put the switches you want in it.

There's two things I don't like. One is how loud it is and two it has a medal reverb sometimes on the spacebar and other keys. I might consider the Ducky one two mini or the anne pro 2.

Stab rattle is easy to fix with $1 of lube.

Still no. Save up for a GMMK and some decent switches and keycaps to go with that. Something used would also be a good option, look on /r/mechmarket.

Getting another $70 - $80 keyboard won't fix that.  Reverb is due to the switch springs and lack of dampening in the case. You would need to lube your stabs, and springs, and put foam in your case. Outside of customs very few keyboards address the latter problem and none address the former.  If you want quieter and no reverb at that budget then mod your current one.

Check out the Youtube chanel :3ildcat. has a lot of videos where he mods off the shelf keyboards to make them sound amazing. I would say get a cheep soldering kit, some lube and maybe a pack of new switches, watch a bunch of :3wildcat videos and then fix your current board.
