The Evolution of My Rig

GirtMeister

Here is the evolution of my build. It all started with a  Lenovo ThinkStation desktop with an I5 560.  An 8800GTS was my first upgrade, needed a new PSU for this so I got the Cooler Master GX 750W PSU. This first foray into PC building and modding got me hooked. After first year university and a summer work term I set out on my first legitimate PC build. I started with the CM 750W PSU mentioned above and bought a CM HAF 922. The remaining components are as follows.

CPU: i5-2500

MB: Asus P8H77-V LE

RAM- 16GB Kingston Hyper X

GPU - Zotac GTX 560ti

Storage - WD Caviar Black 1TB

Cooling- CM Hyper 212 EVO

And here are some pics and explanations of mods done.

Painted the inside of the case with black automotive paint.

Painted grill on GFX Card Blue (ugly Zotac yellow xD)

Some Pics, Can't really tell but I added a piece of Lexan to cover the side vent as there was no fan there (kinda acted as a window).

Sorry for the bad quality, i wasn't planning on posting these a few years ago.

Well that is my first entry. More to come! I have to get my Math homework done first though :P

Hello I am back for round 2.

After using old parts to build my parent's/brother's  PCs, I whipped something together quickly in a HAF XM without much thought.

CPU: i7-2600k

MB: MSI Z77A-G45

RAM- 16GB Kingston Hyper X

GPU - EVGA GTX 660

Storage - WD Caviar Black 1TB

Cooling- Corsair H100i

Here are some picks, not much of a looker. Note: H100i pump died after a week so I had to send it for an RMA. I used an intel cooler in the meantime.

Later, my uncle asked me to build him a computer. I built it in a 550D and gave him my 660.

CPU: i7-2500k

MB: MSI Z77A-G45

RAM- 8GB Corsair Vengeance

GPU - EVGA GTX 660

Storage - WD Caviar Black 2TB

While waiting for my H100i to come back I ordered a windowed side panel for my HAF XM. Here it is with the H100i.

RAM- 16GB Kingston Hyper X

GPU - MSI GTX 660ti

I ordered another 660ti and now had definite plans for my build. I never had enough money at any given time to plan out a build in its entirety but I had decided on a blue theme along the way. Here is an in depth look at this rig.

CPU: i7-2600k

MB: MSI Z77A-G45

RAM- 16GB Kingston Hyper X

GPU - MSI GTX 660ti x2 in SLI

Storage - Samsung 830 series 128GB SSD / WD Caviar Black 1TB

Cooling- Corsair H100i

PSU - Coolermaster GX 750W

Fans - x4 Gelid Wings UV Blue, x3 Coolermaster Mega Flow Blue

This pic is an overview of the internals.

Going with the blue theme i used Bitfenix cable extensions.

Here is a pic of the cable management. I modded the Megaflows to work with the fan LED switch on the case. (Only the megaflows that come with the cases have switch connectors). Here is a link to info that helped me with the mod.

That is where I will leave it for now. Thanks for taking a look!
