RTX 3080 pcie cables

this beauty just arrived, and I was wondering what is meant with two separate PCIE cables. Up until now I have always used the cable attached below, which is one cable plugged into the PSU but with two pcie 8 pins coming off of it. Is this ok or do I need two separate PCIE cables plugged into the psu?

EDIT: Never mind, I just found out that I need two!

You shouldn't "need" two, but I would highly recommend it.

is there much of a risk if you are running the card on one cable for a day? since i am getting a second one tomorrow, but its killing me to just let the gpu sit there after all my anticipation..

No, just might be unstable at high clocks... As long as your PSU isn't a potato, a day shouldn't hurt anything. Just don't start OC'ing (if that's your bag) until after you get the separate cable.
