You could do this

Or get a used optiplex and a rx580 or maybe a GTX 1650.

I could use some help with this!

please, pm me if you would like to contribute to my gpu bios database (includes overclocking bios, stock bios, and upgrades to gpus via modding)

There's this but a used PC will offer better value, or even an old office PC that you could buy a graphics card for would be better than this.

If you have to buy new, then go for this

3000g is $90???? thats terrible value the 3200g is just $10 more with 2 more cores and more performance

The build from @HelpfulTechWizard is your best bet, but do notice it doesn't include tax (even though it claims to). Also know you'll need to purchase Windows 10 for it. And this is all assuming you have the peripherals. Also note that it won't play Apex Legends very well, set your goal for low settings to get playable fps.

That build would be the best one actually. Although the PSU quality is questionable. Also don't forget about the storage. I'd recommend 16gb of ram if you can squeeze it in your budget.

Not anymore you don't. AMD is VERY competitive these days, especially in the low to mid range price you're looking at.

A Ryzen 5 for less money than an i3 is a no-brainer.

Thanks for reading all this by the way!

By the way, my desktop is a docked laptop. Get over it, No seriously, I have an exterrnal monitor, keyboard, mouse, headset, ethernet and cooling fans all connected. Using it feels no different to a desktop, it works for several hours if the power goes out, and disconnecting just a few cables gives me something I can take on the go. There's enough power for all games I play and it even copes with basic (and some not-so-basic) video editing. Give it a go - you might just love it.

AMD is definitely competitive but show me a new Ryzen 5 below $72 USD.

Ah, I didn't see that Intel build. Note, the build I suggested had 2x the ram, and at 1200mhz faster, but the inetl build will have better GPU.

I could use some help with this!

not as important? yes.  large diffrences in CPU between below stock ddr4 (stock is 2666 iirc) and 3600? yes.

I quickly noticed how small the SSD is on all proposed Builds. Having only ~250GB worth of space is fairly pointless. I would go for double that, or if the OP can squeeze it in his budget, go 1TB.

@~$400 to ~$500 is still fairly cheap but with some care you can put together a nice system.
