Just throwing this in for options. As usual with my purchases, I was specific feature/spec list from which I'm not willing to budge much. With mice, here are the main ones:

  • I use palm-grip with medium-large hands (19x10.5cm)
  • I like mouse to be heavy, but balanced
  • Sidebuttons and one extra (besides the defaults) are minimum. More is better.
  • I like simple design, less edges, no mesh etc.

This, along with experience with previous mice, has narrowed list to what is in poll. Previous mice include Razer Copperhead, Logitech wireless media combo (heavy wireless mouse), Roccat Kone original, Roccat Kova[+], SteelSeries Rival 300 (current main) and Logitech G300 (spare, too small for my hands).

None of these mice fit your 3rd MUST HAVE.. the extra side button beyond the 2 default.

One that I think you would like based on what you describe and need would be https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/product/wWYLrH/corsair-nightsword-rgb-wired-optical-mouse-ch-9306011-na

Its not a super heavy mouse, but does come with extra weights so you can adjust and get it to feel how you want as well.

I have this mouse as my wired back up and its a full on palm grip with a 3rd side button / Sniper button that can be remapped in icue. Though use an older version than the current 3.33 as its bugged for key macros currently.

All have either 1-2 extra on top or two on the other side. Trust me, I have checked that these fit all points listed. I removed some 15 choices with only 2x side and one top as I'd rather go with design I know I like if I can't try them first.

Sorry, I won't buy anything Corsair because of personal preferences.

Fair enough. I had taken that you wanted the 2 side and extra as meaning you wanted them on the side as well with the thumb.

I used the G703 for about a year before it started double-clicking, and it seems to be a problem with their mice over time. I don't know if other manufacturers have the same problem. Is the Razer Deathadder V2, not on the list, any good? Because that is what I moved to from the G703. It is similar size/feel, and the cable is lightweight so I don't "feel" it, which was a concern going back to corded from a wireless model.

Gaming system: R7 7800X3D, Asus ROG Strix B650E-F Gaming Wifi, Thermalright Phantom Spirit 120 SE ARGB, Corsair Vengeance 2x 32GB 6000C30, RTX 4070, MSI MPG A850G, Fractal Design North, Samsung 990 Pro 2TB, Acer Predator XB241YU 24" 1440p 144Hz G-Sync + HP LP2475w 24" 1200p 60Hz wide gamut
Productivity system: i9-7980XE, Asus X299 TUF mark 2, Noctua D15, 64GB ram (mixed), RTX 3070, NZXT E850, GameMax Abyss, Samsung 980 Pro 2TB, random 1080p + 720p displays.
Gaming laptop: Lenovo Legion 5, 5800H, RTX 3070, Kingston DDR4 3200C22 2x16GB 2Rx8, Kingston Fury Renegade 1TB + Crucial P1 1TB SSD, 165 Hz IPS 1080p G-Sync Compatible

I haven't looked at Razer because I've heard bad about software. That said, haven't used Razer in over 10 years. So I'll take another look at those too.

Of the list, Kova is there just because its on sale. I didn't like the design of the previous version, and the coating wore off in two years of use. Kone had left button collapse in some 3 years of use. This current Rival 300 has scroll wheel issue, and I'm not sure if opening mouse and proper cleaning would fix it. Been in use for 4 years now.

Could narrow it down further, wireless or wired, symmetrical or right-handed shape.

Well, thats the catch. Wireless would be nice, but most of those are out of what I'm willing to pay for mouse. If I can get good mouse for €50 range, thats same as what I have now. Shape is pretty meaningless pass the fact what I don't like "robotical" style, thumb-rests and mesh top.

So essentially I'm asking are there better or worse choices in this bunch. The Razer options are all on the top-end of price range, so I'd rather not pick them.

Right, so maybe Steelseries Rival 3 wireless and it's in that price range. There's also Razer Viper Mini for lower price than the flagships.

I did look at minis, but they are way too short for my preferred grip.

True they're quite smaller. Other options then, since you can get a wireless in that price range why not if you prefer it.
