What brand would you reccomend for a first custom loop ?

Hwlabs for radiators

Watercool for waterblocks

EKWB for fittings

Any D5 for a pump

What im trying to get across is there isnt a single best brand for a good custom loop

Pretty much exactly as has been said above, "best" results in a mix of different stuff. I'd point to HardwareLabs and Watercool in that lot as being good shouts for a newbie but also throw Corsair blocks into the mix. WC give you precut/presized thermal pads so no worrying about cutting to size and Corsair go one better by giving you pre-applied thermal paste. HWLabs rads tend to be entirely devoid of crud so you only need give them a cursory flush.

I've been really happy with the Barrow fittings I've used so far but I don't think I'd make an  out-and-out recommendation until I've filled and leak tested my system...

I do ek everything unless they dont have what I need.

Like quad barb fittings I get from bitspower I think. As well as their thin 280 rads with corsairs name on them.

But ek also has a large monopoly on the watercool section at my local microcenter.

Also the only company that makes blocks for my mobos I tend to get and then I like to make al the blocks match.

But Id be comfortable running any brands stuff, just comes down to looks on a majority of things.

I have EK everything in my build because it was the only company i knew of at the time years ago when i built my first loop. and i just reuse everything when i build a new rig. I've heard bitspower makes good stuff also. i mean watercooling isn't cheap so look into the cheapest stuff you can find that also seems to be good quality. like an AMD mount from EK was $115 and one from bitspower is $60 so they are both quality so why not get the cheaper one?
