Hey guys, i just build my first PC and everything running smoothly. But when i check crystaldiskinfo it said my WD Blue SN550 only getting 3x2 speed, even though it can support to 3x4.

On Crystaldiskmark, it's only getting 1800/mbps and 2200/mbps as advertised.

My motherboard is MSI b550 gaming plus and i checked on the manual, it support 3x4 on the first m2 slot.

How can i change it? thanks.

it could be auto turning off because of a usb port or sata drive that's plugged in

i only use one drive now for my OS. With another sata SSD for upgrade next month.

Which usb ports can alter pcie speed?

idk which ones in specific, but my motherboard won't let me use nvme 4x if I either have a sata plugged in or I'm using the usb 3.2 header

You sure first slot isn't the lower one, it's the case on my x470 board?

Edit: top slot is one according to manual. But bandwidth is dependent on CPU installed

Yep, pretty sure i double checked on mobo manual. The m2_1 is the one with frozr shield. Although the lower one is also supported 3x4, according to the motherboard.

I'm sorry after double checking i can't any information about why it changed to x2 even though it's supported x4.

Ok it has 16x4 + 4x4 for storage, if you're using sata then that might be the issue.

no, i don't use any sata. my nvme is the only installed in my build. haha.

That's pretty weird then. Only GPU and nvme in slot m2_1 and not a ton of USB stuff?

Might want to try just using the top back USBs.

Edit: your ssd is only using pcie 3.0x4 though so either m2_1 or m2_2 should work full speed.. :s might want to try m2_2 just for lulz

My GPU is pretty old though, it's a R7 240 from MSI. i used is a placeholder until big navi launch before buying new GPU. Is it the problem?

Yep, also change my keyboard and mouse to top usb labeled 2.0. no change at all.

I know but first slot is 4x4 native and 2nd is 3x4 native, worth a try. If that fixed the issue, then it's a compatibility issue
