Audio-Technica ATH-M40X not loud enough

keelan720

I recently bought a pair of m40x's and I plugged them in via the 3.5mm in the back of my computer. The problem is it's not quite loud enough for me.

I've done a little research and found that I might need a amp. I was wondering if there is a very cheap option to get these sounding a little louder?

Don't get me wrong they're not extremely quiet but I would love if they would get a little louder.

Thank you.

My motherboard is an z370 aorus ultra gaming.

And for loudness they're loudish just not loud enough.

I'm trying to look for something cheap that can fix this.

Would love that but it's not quiet in my budget.

Isn't there a cheaper way of making it louder?

Somethings not right here a setting or something.

Thats a modern enough motherboard with decent enough on board audio. This shouldnt have a problem pushing those headphones to deafening volumes.

Have you checked all the volume settings?

Try a FX-Audio DAC-X6 for about $60 on Amazon. It's a dac and headphone amp.

It's pretty good but the output impedance is pretty high and from my experience low impedance gear don't sound so great with it due to the impedance ratio.
