My existing board is a GA-97X-SLI which only supports PCIe x2. Just got a new EVO 970 Plus SSD to replace my WD Black HD and getting abysmal SSD speeds. I really don't game much, just looking for a solid, updated socket 1150 board that supports PCI2 x16 so I can maximize SSD speed. I mainly use the machine as a workstation / server for our small business but do like to run a game or flight sim occasionally. Would really appreciate any advice on some updated boards to consider. A much appreciated THANK YOU to everyone on this channel. This is such a great community. Thank you.

Current build:

- Gigabyte GA-97X-SLI (built 5-6 years ago?)

- Intel i5 processor

- 32GB Crucial RAM

- Have just used onboard Intel HD graphics for now but looking for good PCI card for getter refresh rates.

- EVO 970 Plus 512 NVMe for OS

- 2 WD Black HD's for storage

i would just sell CPU/mobo/ram together for like 300$ us, depending on the market. Lowest 200$. Then just get a budget b450 and a 3100, with a kit of ddr4 3600mhz cl16.
