hello, I have a 256gb ssd installed to my asus z170-a motherboard. I just bought another 500gb ssd and installed it but its not showing up on the formatting window. Am I only allowed one ssd installed? or do I need to change some stuff in the bios or something to have it working?

Where are you trying to plug it in, and what are both of your SSDs?

Often having an m.2 drive installed will disable some SATA ports.

Check the BIOS and see if your newly installed SSD is visible.

Please refer to your motherboard manual for more information on how to install SSDs or HDDs.

By the way, what type of SSD are you trying to install? Maybe you can list out your SSD types so we can better assist you. Your motherboard has some criteria on installing the SSDs.

It is noted, however, M2 slot share with SATA Express ports (SATA6G_1 and SATA6G_2). So, if M2 slot use M2 SATA SSD, your SATA6G_1 and SATA6G_2 will be disabled.

Hope that helps.
