4YO PC Needs Upgrading

MrConcrete04

Hello World,

I am a 16yo student and I have a PC that I have been using for the past 4 years for mainly gaming but I would like to now step up my game and start streaming with a friend. The specs are as follows:

i5 6500

Intel Stock Cooler

MSI B150M PRO-VDH

Kingston HyperX Fury Black 2x8GB 2133mhz

EVGA Geforce GTX 1050Ti SSC

Kingston 2.5 Inch 256GB SSD

WD 3.5 Inch 1TB 7200RPM HDD

Corsair VS550 non-modular PSU

Corsair 100R case

Asus 5.25 Inch Optical Drive

The question now is, what do I upgrade first with all of the new hardware coming out?

Thank You

e.

I would honestly wait a month or two because the new AMD Ryzen chips are soon to be announced. It's rumored to have good core performance on par with intel for gaming, but tons of multitasking cores, which would really benefit you in streaming.

Then I'd upgrade cpu, ram, mobo, and gpu. Ryzen chips really need high MHz ram and 3200-3600 seems to be the sweet spot

I'd just sell the whole system and build new if I were you. Otherwise, I'd only keep the case, storage, and power supply.

Depends on your budget and if you can find a good deal locally.

Maybe try to snag an i7, used, for under $100. If you can, go with that and a GPU upgrade. If you can't find that or have a signifcantly higher budget ($1000+), wait for new Ryzen chips to release and start from scratch.
