The wattage is fine, the quality on the other hand, not so much..

I would plan on upgrading to a better quality unit.

Something from Tier A preferably....

cpu:150W

gpu:250W

rest of system:100W

you can run on a 650W psu just fine.

the problem with your current psu is its low quality, not its wattage

I wouldn't say it's ideal, but it should work. It's one of the only decent PSUs out of Thermaltake's Smart lineup.

Don't expect it to be quiet though, both because of its double forward topology (which might lead to coil whine when paired with a GPU like the 3080) and fan curve - according to Aris' review of the unit, before you hit even 500W of output you're already in 40dBA territory.

Personally, I'd get a new unit - something like an RM650x/750x, Straight Power 11 650W/750W or Ion+ 660W/760W should work nicely in there. Considering you're spending $700+ on a GPU, you've probably got the cash to spare on a PSU upgrade.

But since you asked whether you need an upgrade - likely not.

Still, wait for reviews to see how power hungry these new GPUs really are. They should be out in a couple of days for the 3080.

Desktop: Intel Core i9-9900K | ASUS Strix Z390-F | G.Skill Trident Z Neo 2x16GB 3200MHz CL14 | EVGA GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER XC Ultra | Corsair RM650x | Fractal Design Define R6

Laptop: 2018 Apple MacBook Pro 13"  --  i5-8259U | 8GB LPDDR3 | 512GB NVMe

Peripherals: Leopold FC660C w/ Topre Silent 45g | Logitech MX Master 3 & Razer Basilisk X HyperSpeed | HIFIMAN HE400se & iFi ZEN DAC | Audio-Technica AT2020USB+

Display: Gigabyte G34WQC
