Does Fallout: New Vegas natively support 21:9 or is it stretched?

BucketBoiAce

So I just got Fallout New Vegas Ultimate for steam, and when I booted up the game, there were no black bars but when I play the game it seems stretched,

So if you can, please let me know is it stretched or not.

Kind regards

WSGF suggests Fallout: NV supports 21:9 through an .ini edit. The accompanying screenshots suggests the gameplay doesn't stretch; it expands (so you have more peripheral vision in the game): https://www.wsgf.org/dr/fallout-new-vegas/en

Fallout: NV seems to use an anamorphic approach with the cutscenes, which means you don't have any black bars, but rather they just cut the top and bottom off the cutscene:

(not at the native resolution, but this shows the cut taken, just above the moon/at the blazer of the middle character)

Thank you very much.

Just a few other tips...

FONV (and in fact all Bethesda games from this era) don't work very well with modern multi core CPUs and can be very crashy. I STRONGLY suggest you look into installing NVSE and a Mod Manager then grab the Unofficial Patch for which ever version you have (should be the latest) and a crash fix mod (just get the one with the highest rating) from Nexus Mods. There might also be a mod for proper 21:9 support that doesn't cut anything off.

I'll also leave a link to the PCGW page with a whole host of fixes for the most common issues.

  • 2 weeks later...

Update: I am not mad that this game does not do 21:9, due to the fact that it is a good a game and 21 9 was not as big back then.
