Hello. 

I am going to make a new build and am using a amd ryzen 5 3600 but when I looked at a website it said its only compatible with a 500 series chipset but I couldn't find that anywhere else so is it treu?

B450 , X470 and ( some x370 ) boards can be made compatible via a bios update 

all b450 boards by MSI with „ Max „ in the name are already updated from the factory

What board do you have/ are getting? 

Most b450 boards ship with the new bios at this point and msi's max boards do ship with zen 2 support. If the b450 board didn't ship with the new bios then just ask the vendor/ computer store to update it for you. 

B550 only supports zen 2. X570 supports zen 2 out of the box as well.
