I'm confused. What are awards and how do I get them?

Some awards were one-time specials and can't be gotten anymore (like donation rewards, joining the first folding event, etc.). Most awards can be gotten through participating in this forum's Folding or BOINC teams:

F@H and BOINC are both projects with the idea behind them that you volunteer your PC's compute power to assist scientists in figuring different issues.

Folfind @ Home focuses on the way proteins folds in our body and specifically how they misfold, which can cause different sort of diseases (like Cancer, Parkinsons and Alzheimer). The data created from these simulations can be used by researchers to hopefully figure out a fix to these diseases. Earlier this year they also added 'work units' focusing on the COVID-19 disease.

By participating in Folding @ Home - or BOINC - you can receive different awards, based on the amount of points you have gathered in these projects.
