My PC began having frequent bluescreens and game crashes a few weeks ago, so I went through a bunch of different troubleshooting steps before finally deciding to clear my SSD and reinstall Windows 10.

The issue is that every single time I attempt to install Windows 10 from a flash drive with boot media, my PC bluescreens during the installation process, leaving me without a working windows installation.

I’m assuming the issue is rooted in a hardware malfunction and I’m looking for help identifying what it is.

My specs are:

  • Windows 10 Home 64 bit (attempting to install)
  • MSI b250m gaming pro (BIOS version 7A65v18, latest)
  • Intel i7 7700k
  • GeForce GTX 1050Ti 4GB
  • 2x8gb G.SKILL Aegis RAM
  • Samsung 870 EVO SSD (1TB) boot drive
  • Seagate Barracuda (2TB) storage drive
  • EVGA SUPERNOVA 750 G2 (750 W 80+ Gold)

Here are some of the BSOD error messages I have gotten. (In order, the last being the most recent)

  1. irql not or less equal
  2. 0xc000021a
  3. irql not or less equal
  4. apc index mismatch
  5. driver irql not or less equal: (iastorac.sys failed)
  6. kmode exception not handled
  7. attempted to write read only memory
  8. pfn list corrupt
  9. irql not or less equal
  10. page fault in nonpaged area
  11. driver irql not or less equal - (USBXHCI.SYS failed)
  12. kernel security check failure

I’m included a link to the dump files from before I uninstalled Windows and wiped my SSD. - (https://drive.google.com/file/d/1oa_G0eo0A_4R6ApvzsJgSLIpOCfw3aHn/view?usp=drivesdk)

Thanks

Could be that the version of Windows you are trying to install is outdated. Try creating a bootable USB using https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10, it will download the most recent one.

Try recreating your installation media. Random BSOD's during installation that seemingly make no sense are common behaviors of corrupted Windows installation drives.

I’ve already tried 3 separate installation drives and it doesn’t seem to be the issue.

Thanks

I’ve already created three separate bootable USBs using three separate computers in the past week so I’m fairly certain the issue is not the installation media.

Thanks

Reset cmos

If that doesn't help, then try running with only 1 stick of ram, swap sticks and slots to see if problem goes away

Reset CMOS and double checked both sticks of ram, still got the following blue screen errors:

-apc index mismatch

-driver irql not or less equal: (Wdf01000.sys)

-driver irql not or less equal: (fbwf.sys)

-system service exception: (Ntfs.sys)

-unexpected kernel mode trap

thanks

it's hard to say what's wrong unless you have another system to test other parts

try checking the storage device 1 by 1

-sigh- feeling like I'm being too negative lately

I’ve tested the RAM (unless both sticks are faulty), GPU, and storage devices. At this point I’m wondering if it is a motherboard or CPU issue.

Thanks
