Thermal Paste Questions

I’m about to start building a PC for my mom and I have some Corsair XTM50 High Performance Thermal Paste left over from when I built my PC in February.

 

Is it fine to use this with a Ryzen 5 3600 and the included Wraith Stealth Cooler?

 

Should I just apply a pea-sized amount?

 

Do I even need thermal paste if she doesn’t game or do any kind of video editing?

if you're using it new, it should have pre-applied paste

yes it's definitely recommended to have thermal paste no matter the use case of the PC

Absolutely. Thermal paste helps fill in all the imperfections of the integrated heat spreader.

You do not, if there is already pre-applied thermal paste on the cooler.
