Posted September 4, 2020 I'd like to swap my motherboard to a newer choosey (b450 to b550) so I can take full advantage of pci 4.0. So my question is, can I just swap everything and boot my pc? I've heard that there could be issues with my boot drive, or I'd have to reactivate window among other things.
 Posted September 4, 2020 You should be fine if the bios supports the CPU. i dont see how repluging a drive would do that
Posted September 4, 2020 I'd remove the chipset drivers before the swap myself. Then install the correct drivers for the B550 once up and running.
Posted September 4, 2020 Since you are going for pcie 4.0 support, get a b550 or x570 board. I believe some b450 boards support it in some beta (Or old) bios but from what I’ve seen, it is pretty unreliable. If you are waiting for ryzen 4000, there will also be the option of x670 at that time. I am far from an expert in this so please correct me if I’m wrong.
