Make gpu turn off when not in use?

AshesAndWool

Hey guys, I'm making a pretty weird and specific build where I want the pc to be able to have some horsepower when needed, but also go into a completely passive 0 db mode for music production when that is desired. So I'm considering a possibility where I have a graphic card that is really beefy connected to my monitor with one displayport cable and then my motherboard i/o with built in graphics (or a secondary passive gpu) also connected to the same monitor with another displayport cable. The plan would then be to toggle the display input on the monitor when going into "gaming mode" and then toggle it back to the motherboard output when not in use. How would the gpu react when not in use by the monitor, would the fans stop, and if not is there a way to make the gpu turn off when not in use? Thanks for your time.

Modern GPUs turn their fans off at idle anyway.

Just get some proper quality fans and run them at very low speeds. Additionally you could go for a silence optimised case, like a Fractal Define, for example.

What he said,  your GPU isn't going to make the PC any louder while idling,  just leave the fancurve at default, it will turn off automatically.

One last question though, I see the "frozr 0 rpm mode" on the spec page of all the open air cards like the gaming x series from msi, but I can't find it listed on any of the pages blower-style cards like these: https://www.asus.com/no/Graphics-Cards/TURBO-RTX2080-8G/ https://www.msi.com/Graphics-card/GeForce-GTX-1660-SUPER-AERO-ITX https://www.asus.com/no/Graphics-Cards/TURBO-RTX2080-8G/
Do modern blower-style graphics cards also have 0 rpm mode, say up to 40/50 degrees celsius?
