the corsair rm series are on the a tier on the psu tierlist made here. and depending on your parts you might not even need a 650W and could save an extra 220SEK

exactly, i do the same, and because of that i would never buy a used psu, but when on a budget if it was a reputable seller i wouldn't mind it.

I had old Pent MB's and systems that still ran that were MUCH older than that.

The seller is my friend I can test the PSU and everything what more do you guys need I don't understand why it would fry only my PC

i don't know why it should fry your pc, but just becuase he's your friend doesn't mean he's got the know how's to know if the psu was the problem or not.

(maybe he does i don't know him so that's up to you)

Just because it turns on doesn't mean it's working correctly.

 

Did you send it off to get properly tested with PSU testing equipment?

 

That would cost more than you would pay for the PSU....

 Unless it has been tested with the proper testing equipment you don't know...

 

That would mean sending it off and having it tested.. Like to Corsair so they can plug it into their testing equipment.

 

If the guy wants to pay to send it off and have it tested.... He would get verification back that it's in spec or a new PSU under warranty if it wasn't.

Umm... While I don't agree on the fact that you shouldn't buy PSU used

Especially if it's a good model

 

That motherboard dying really is something to be of suspected. Things don't just break like that.

The last time I've seen a motherboard break by itself was Pentium 4 era when bad caps were used.

Now if it was a high end unit then MAYBE, depending..... And that would be a huge maybe..
