Hello,

This is my first project so It's not perfectly polished.

So my main goal is to build the strongest Windows XP, mainly for the nostalgia and this is the number 1 point: the chassis has to be a Dell Optiplex 780 (or any 700 series) SFF, and can't fit full size ATX only Micro-ATX or Mini-ITX. I have been collecting data for a few days now and here are my conclusion:

i7-4790k

32 GB Memory (haven't decided yet)

ASUS ROG Maximus VII Impact (Mini-ITX)

ASUS ROG Maximus VII GENE (Micro-ATX)

GTX 780Ti

So my main question would be if the parts really work with XP, (I checked and there are drivers for every part), and if there is any better part out there i missed.

As for GPU 780 Ti is my go for option, but I have a very overkill option to, 2x GTX Titan X in SLI.

The motherboard I prefer is the mini-ITX, but if i choose the overkill SLI I would need a micro-ATX.

I also have different motherboards in my list like MSI Z97I Gaming ACK, Asrock Fatal1ty Z97M Killer, etc. I don't know what are the main points of choosing a board, (every one have similar specs and memory support).

Thanks for the help.

I'm just going to go on a limb and say you're probably not going to get any of the features of those boards working under Windows XP. It'll probably install and boot into XP, but you're aren't going to find any XP drivers for those boards. At least I couldn't find any going onto ASUS/ MSI/ and Asrock's websites. The basic Windows ones might be enough to get some networking and sound working, but not completely. There are XP drivers for the 780Ti though.
