depends if you need that upload speed, most users dont

for the average user, download speed is more important than upload speed

but if you livestream or constantly upload things (maybe your personal cloud) then you might need the speed

-sigh- feeling like I'm being too negative lately

Hey Guys. Question. So my dad is getting new wifi and we have to choose between 30mbps download and 10mbps upload or 50mbps download and 1.5mbps upload. So which one?

From the same or different ISPs?

If on the same ISP, I'd try with the 30/10Mbps to see if it satisfies your family's needs. You can always upgrade your tier if you need more.

If on different ISPs, I'd look at reviews of the two. You might find that customers get better experience and reliability from the ISP with the lower speed tier. I know that's the situation where I currently live. I pay for FTTH 50/25Mbps from one ISP, which has less downtime and consistently better speeds, compared to another ISP (cable), which offers 75/5Mbps for almost the same price but not-so-good reputation.
