Hi, few years ago I bought a 3 TB WD external HDD for a great price, I used it for a storage of games, movies, series, pretty much anything that I dont use everyday.

I did some major cabel managament under my PC desk and I was like: "why dont i just put the HDD in my external HDD into my PC since I dont really need it outside, and i wouldnt have two extra cables laying around" so I extracted the HDD out no problem and put it in my PC which now wants to format it before use... I dont really want that since there is like 2,5 TB data there.

Is there any easy way to use it without formating? I dont have that much space in my PC to transfer it by putting the hdd back into the external HDD case. And borrowing another hdd to transfer it that way seems way too slow.

Thank you in advance 🙂

No, you'll have to move data off and format.

When it's like that it means the drive is encrypted with a key that's unique to the drive and interface board combo.
