It’s outrageously overpriced, holy crap. There’s something wrong when you’re paying more today than you did almost 40 years ago.

Heard of inflation?

https://www.usinflationcalculator.com/

If it was $200 USD in 1982 at launch it would be $537 now. Kickstarter price there looks to be $394 USD including shipping and taxes, so actually it's cheaper than it used to be!

Yeah, heard of it, thanks. Thing is, it released at £125. Then was quickly slashed to £100 a year later and then a fraction of that for the next decade. Thanks for the economics lesson though.

Inflation aside, you're shelling out $400 for 1MB of RAM, a 28Mhz Z80 and an SD card slot.

Fuck me that guy is smoking something if he thinks he's getting that much for it. That's like, what, $5-10 at most of actual hardware? I doubt there is $500 (CAD) of plastic case and keyboard there.

Anyone who buys one of these is out of their mind.

Bunch of old people getting nostalgic, bunch of kids wants something as a prop and youtubers. You can buy the original ones for cheaper, which has actual historical value.

i can see paying 50- 100, due to all the work they have to do but 500$ is pusing it by a lot.

Ok, convert to lbs.

https://www.bankofengland.co.uk/monetary-policy/inflation/inflation-calculator

125# in 1982 is 444.88# in 2019. 100 is 355.

So really the price hasn't increased all that much, the value of the components has gone down substantially and that is a valid argument but they're free to sell at whatever price they wish to sell at, see Intel.

Doesn't mean they're gonna sell any, though at that price just selling 2 probably makes enough profit to make 50 more, lol

In real life, I act like I know less about tech than I actually do.

Main build: CPU: AMD Phenom ii X4 955 Black Edition @ 4,0GHz (Cooler Master 212) | GPU: MSI RX580 8Gb | RAM: 12Gb DDR3 | PSU: Chieftec CTB-500S  | Mobo: Asus M4A87TD/USB3 | Storage: Seagate 500Gb HDD

Yes, I'm aware my CPU is a huge bottleneck. No, I don't really care.

Laptop: Asus TUF FX505DT 60Hz 8Gb model
