Hi everyone, new to the forums hoping for some insight.

I built my very first PC last year and have been hooked on PCMR ever since, and have been slowly converting my console friends which leads me to my current issue, lately my group has been playing 7days to die and one of the members partner has gotten hooked but only had a 10 year old laptop to play on with us, resulting in about 10FPS on lowest so we decided to put together a cheap system to give her a playable experience.

The core system is an Acer aspire ax3-100-eb11

AMD quad core a10-5700 cpu

GTX 480

ADATA 120gb SSD boot drive

Thermaltake smart 430w PSU

Without the GPU installed the computer will post 60% of the time, often requiring a few reboots until it finally beeps and posts and then works without issue.

With the GPU installed it will not post regardless if it beeps, I've tried a known working RX480 to see if its the GTX 480 and it reacts the same.

I've done countless restarts, reset and even replaced the cmos battery, and still nothing.

I'd truly appreciate any help or new ideas to try

Thank you

you have another psu you can try?

I tried to use an older 330w one another old pre-built came with using some molex to pcie adapters before buying this Thermaltake 430w and it did the same thing.

I should also mention that if it does beep with the GPU installed the on-board graphics will not work either. Only without the GPU entirely will it post

Does the Northbridge become hot?

I have many old motherboards and I test them to see if they work, if they don't right away I try to troubleshoot and sometimes I encounter ones that work "only sometimes"

For example a recent one which had a new problem everytime it booted, then worked fine for 3 boot and a windows install, then it beeped and for 20 minutes didn't work.

Many of the others with random problem have Northbridge heating up to 100° in almost 10 second range

That said, I think some are irrecoverable and try to keep that in mind

Check that the PSU is enough, as I got that when I had a to low wattage PSU, and a higher wattage on helped

I could use some help with this!

please, pm me if you would like to contribute to my gpu bios database (includes overclocking bios, stock bios, and upgrades to gpus via modding)

Maybe try messing with BIOS settings, like set [Auto] option manually

(For example set to use the GPU instead of iGPU)

I'll check and see if its getting hot, in regards to the bios setting if I set it to use the dedicated gpu and it doesn't work will I be boned when I try and boot it without it?

Resetting the BIOS will make it go back to Automatic

At least usually, set it to iGPU, reset and see if it reset to Auto for real
