AMD's new entry level processor using old tech?

Interesting strategy AMD.

This could be the way the tech industry is moving, less customize-able pc's and more strait from the box approach.

Don't get me wrong custom builds will still be around they will just be a niche' 10 years from now as everything get's compartmentalized, phones, tablets, and now pc's.

I wonder if this pays off for them?

Any ideas?

Why would they? Something that low cost is now worth a lot of R&D time when the people buying it won't know the difference

Yea well that is the low end of the market. If high end tech starting being soldered onto he board I and many others would be pissed. The PC at the moment is just fine as it is. Having everything as a separate component it really handy and makes the PC a PC.

Where is the old tech here?

It's a new very low power CPU, those that you can passively cool and are inexpensive and useful for typical mail / browsing office use.

They support Sata III, USB 3.0, HDMI and are very similar to the CPUs inside the new consoles.

Guys, it's not old tech. They are using Jaguar cores and GCN graphics.
