Upgraded CPU PC freezes randomly

Go to solution Solved by SupaKomputa,

update the bios.

Hey everyone,

I upgraded my CPU from an i5-8600k to an i5-9600k. I then booted my PC and everything lit up then turned off again and then went back on for some reason, then I get a bios banner saying that the boot failed cause the bios settings I had weren’t compatible with what I had, so I told it to put the defaults and boot again. It was running the CPU at 4.3GHz and then put it down to 3.7GHz. Anyway after a few mins my PC just froze; everything was still on but nothing I did with my mouse or keyboard affected what I saw on-screen, I checked the CPU again, no bent pins anywhere (CPU or MB).

here are my specs:

CPU:i5-9600k

MB: Z390UD

GPU: EVGA 1060 6GB

RAM: trident z rgb DDR4

CPU Cooler: cooler master 120mm water cooler

Thank you for reading and helping me out :)

8600k is 6c/6t 3.6ghz-4.3ghz

9600k is 6c/6t 3.7ghz-4.6ghz

you literally own two 8600k's now lol. Did you switch your motherboard too? because you should probably reinstall windows if you did.
