Yeah but how's that have to do with anything about 3.5mm jacks? USB C just makes more sense. Why have a different port for everything instead of one universal and bidirectional one

Sorry nope. Edison screw based lightbulbs are the oldest connector in use today from 1890. Tied with that are early versions of AC power connectors. Also note that 230/240v systems often have switches on their outlets and fused power cords, which were added later. 

 

Not everything needs to be replaced if all it does is add a cost. The 3.5mm connector's "logical upgrade" would have been either tos-link or a 2.5mm connector, both which require no additional complexity to use as-is, and compatible with the standard 3.5mm TRRS headphone jack. A 2.5mm one would have solved the "it's too big" issue that apple supposedly claims, let alone the water-proofing which could have been done by evolving the connector to use magnets rather than friction to hold it in place.

You are misunderstanding what that article says.

Loudness and high frequency are two different things. The loudness wars is/was about, well, loudness. The article about MP3 you linked is about frequency. Two different things.

So again, I have absolutely no idea why you bring any of this up. I don't even understand how it is related to the conversation we were having about Bluetooth audio. Good Bluetooth audio codecs do not work like MP3 where it just cuts off everything above a certain frequency.

It also works for some other codecs but AAC is the big one, yes. Some quick Google searches will probably reveal to you that all three of the Bluetooth audio devices I listed earlier supports AAC over A2DP. So for me, since I use AAC for my music, will enjoy Bluetooth audio that is the same quality as if I used Toslink or some other digital audio standard. The Bluetooth connection is completely transparent, to me and my music at least.

I don't understand what you are trying to say or what point you're trying to make here. You link to some Spotify support article which is suppose to demonstrate what exactly? That if you use Spotify free then the audio codec will not be as high quality as if you get premium? I don't get how this is relevant to Bluetooth audio, which is what we are talking about.

 

If this is about me saying I don't think you can hear the difference between good but lossy compressed audio and uncompressed then I'd like to inform you that I would not consider Spotify on low or medium settings "good". Hell, that's the reason why they have "very high" and it's locked behind a premium subscription.

Yes I do know how loud trains and airplanes are. That's specifically why I bought the Sony WH-1000XM3. I wore them for the entire 13 hour flight to Japan and I do not regret spending close to 400 dollars for them one bit.

To say that a 15 dollar pair of wired headphones would have been just as good is laughable.
