I have a bunch of SSD in mixed formats (m.2 and sata) that I have lying around that I want to use because my laptop is filling up, but I don't want to plug them all in individually via usb because that would get messy. I thought about usb splitters but that limits performance. Because I also wanted to game of one of the ssds I can't use a splitter or speeds are drastically reduced. So, I thought about a NAS solution but those are expensive and my laptop only supports 1GbE which is slower than usb.

Not sure what I want to do. I dont need any hard drive bays. Just 1x2.5inch ssd and 2 M.2 drives. What is the best way to connect these 3 drives without limiting performance for cheap.

There really isnt a good way to do it honestly for them on the cheap. USB converters for multiple drives are more then likely expensive. 2.5 inch SSD you can just use an external HDD connector.

Get another sata card so you can plug it all at once.

Some came with sata + m.2 combo.

Laptop, there's a thing called HDD dock, you can plug multiple hdd in one sata port.

Sata 3 or thunderbolt should have the bandwidth.

Just don't use them at once.

I found this: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07VLCX45B

which is almost what I want. it supports 2 m.2

Just make sure your drive isn't an M.2 NVMe, it doesn't support that.

Good luck
