I've got a PC being built (my first PC) and I've gone for a 3600x with a 2060 super. I originally had the 3700x with 1660 super but after reading alot of topics asking similar questions, I had in my head that the cpu was much more powerful than the gpu. So I downgraded the cpu slightly and upgraded gpu to be more even and hopefully last longer without having to upgrade.

Problem is I've since been told that the 2060 super is for bigger screen resolutions and 144hz. Have I messed up ordering this for 1080p and 75hz? If so could it work to my benefit and last longer than the 1660 super would have?

it's overkill for sure and imo you should get the cheapest gpu that fits your needs unless you think A) you'll get a better monitor in the future that puts a higher load on your gpu or B) you plan on playing new games without updating your system for a while and you wanna futureproof it. a 1660 super is honestly overkill for 1080p 75hz and you'd probably be able to play AAA games at max settings with it for the next few years provided that your setup doesnt change. if you were going to play at a higher refresh rate or resolution, or you wanna try RTX/DLSS 2.0 then the 2060 super would be a strong choice. perhaps keep an eye out for sales on the 2060? the KO Ultra was $280 a few days ago and would be the best of both worlds

My PC has been built today, hence the question as I've not been able to stop thinking about it since, feeling like I've wasted alot of money now. I have only just recently purchased this monitor too. Its the AOC 24G2U5

Can you not just return the monitor and pay the 30 quid difference for the 144hz? That would be the best option. Amazon has a great return policy

Ryzen 5 -5600x

ASUS x570

EVGA 3080 XC3

4x8gb 3600 mhz XPG

It is an option as I only recently bought it. I've never had a 144hz monitor before so not sure what to expect from it. My eyes are sensitive to bright monitors as it is, I have to have it set really low.

Are 144hz screens noticeable in any way, in general browsing? As I do alot of that too, I didn't notice much going from 60 to 75 apart from it being a little brighter/clearer for some reason but it could have just been from using a better monitor.
