Windows update not letting my computer boot

FeaR418

Hey guys,

Windows keeps trying to install a new update, but it fails every time and then in order to boot i need to go into safemode to undo the update. Has anyone had this problem before?

The update might of corrupted your MBR after updating go into safe mode then try these steps:

Fix MBR with command prompt

Input these commands once you enter Command Prompt, and then restart the machine when it completes.

  • bootrec.exe /fixmbr

  • bootrec.exe /fixboot

  • bootrec.exe /rebuildbcd

If it ever happens again, this is a page i have bookmarked for when this happens, either the solution above, or the steps in this article will more than likely help:

Yes, what is your system? I've had problems like that with older and slower systems and while on WiFi updating.  I fought with one for a day and was just about to call in the big guns when it finally finished.  It's like it thought the update was ready but was missing components to be downloaded still.  I laughed the first time someone said it takes a day to update sometimes, we now know it can happen and it is not funny.
