I'm building my first pc in 17 years (currently on a laptop) and I was wondering if I should go with the 2060S or 5700XT?
I've already bought a 3300X and the reason behind the graphics cards is that my GF wants to borrow my new pc to play Planet Zoo, and apparently that game wants 8GB of vram.

If you have any suggestions of specific cards, please feel free to post it.

I've also bought the BeQuiet 500DX and 16 GB Corsair Vengeance Pro RGB 3200Mhz CL16.

If you have any suggestions for a good price to performance motherboard, hit me up aswell!

BeQuiet Pure Base 500DX White - MSI B450-A Pro Max - Ryzen 5 5600X - Corsair Vengeance LPX 3600MHz 32 GB -7800XT Gaming OC - A-Data XPG SX8200 - GIGABYTE M27Q rev. 2 (1440p/170HZ) - G502 Wireless - SteelSeries Apex 7 - Epos H6 Pro Open

5700xt is about the same as a 2070s if you dont want to do rtx

I could use some help with this!

please, pm me if you would like to contribute to my gpu bios database (includes overclocking bios, stock bios, and upgrades to gpus via modding)

if you're steaming and you need nvec then 2060 super.

if you're not, a 5700xt will be a fair bit faster.

The 5700XT is around 5-8% faster.

If you don't need NVENC, ray tracing, DLSS, don't have a crappy PSU and don't mind potentially having to tinker with the drivers, it's a good choice. The cheapest really good models are the Sapphire Pulse and Powercolor Red Dragon.

Thanks for weighing in!
I am not into streaming, and I don't think I will ever be. So I don't need NVENC right?

- Budget for mb is around 120 USD I think (I live in Denmark, so the prices are a bit fucked up), I'm thinking maybe B550 or X470 so I can upgrade to a Ryzen 4000 series at some point. The 3300X might just be a placeholder (I got it SUPER cheap).

Yeah, well, if I wait I probably wont be able to afford the new cards anyways. So I'd rather just get it built and then upgrade down the line when Big Navi and RTX 3000 goes on a possible sale in january or black friday next year.

I don't need NVENC since I don't do any streaming, and ray tracing is kinda wasted on me I think. The game I play the most is League of Legends and that probably won't change. I will still try out newer games, but since I am used to the graphic from my GTX 765M I don't feel like I need ray tracing. DLSS I have no idea about, I completely forgot about it.
I don't have a PSU yet, I'll get that next month aswell.
I don't mind tinkering, as long as this amazing community will back me up if I get in trouble.
I was actually considering the Red Devil, since the price difference between Red Devil and Red Dragon here in Denmark is just insanely low.

edit: Budget on the board, I'm thinking around 120 USD.

Ignore x470 and b450 can support zen 3.

B450 a pro max (non m). Pro vdh max and the pro 4 and the mortar and the tomhawk are good.

As for b550, for a little more than 120 bucks, the vdh is good and for around 140-50ish bucks, the a pro is seriously good.

I'd personally still recommend a 2060s due to some bad drivers on AMD's part.

If you want the 10% extra performance but have a small risk of bad drivers fo for the 5700xt.

Do they still have bad drivers? Aren't they mostly fixed by now?

Historically speaking prices drop like a rock when new parts come out. Think 7900GTX dropping by half when the 8800 came out... or the 780s dropping by half when the 980s came out or... same with CPUs. 1800x used to cost $500... they aren't 500 now.

The deltas are certainly getting smaller but... price free fall is a very real thing with new launches.

That's true!

Well, since I am only buying early next month I will have a look at the new market if nVidia drops their new cards later this month!
