Best 4K Monitor under $400 of 2020?

Daniel B.

Hi there guys!

My name is Daniel and I am a big fan of all the content Linus creates. I love to watch their videos and they have helped me SO much throughout the past that I wanted to give back to you a little.

I just found after days of research one of the most incredible monitors out there. I am talking about the Monoprice CrystalPro 27 inch 4K DisplayHDR 400 monitor with pivot, height, and other great features and adjustments.

I was amazed to see that it was everything I needed for under $400! ($399.99 in Amazon US and $359.99 on the Monoprice site)

I will send the link so you can check it out and I would love to hear what you think.

Is this a good monitor? Is it worth it? Is Monoprice a good monitor brand?

Maybe Linus could even make a video :D Something like "Best 2020 4K Monitor Under $400" or something like that.

I hope you and they get to read this and know how much I love their content and would love to hear what you think about this monitor.

Thank you so much and take care!

Daniel B.

Newegg review:

Quote

Cons: It doesn't support HDR. To support HDR you need two things, a minimum of 10bpc, which this monitor supports AND not OR but AND a minimum of 18gb/s bandwidth. This monitor has 1x Displayport 1.1 (10gb/s) and 2x HDMI 1.4 (10gb/s). For 18gb/s you need Displayport 1.4 or HDMI 2.0. That's not to mention that it (the two I have atleast) also doesn't reach the minimum brightness level for HDR.

I'd probably choose - AOC U2790PQU

Why would it have the DisplayHDR 400 certification if it is not HDR?

And you’re absolutely right! I love the AOC U2790PQU but I can’t find it on amazon or anywhere :(

What do you think about the HDR argument and where do you think I could find the AOC one??

Thanks! 😄

But that’s not the one I am talking about 😅

The one you sent is the 1440p without HDR not the 4K with DisplayHDR 400 (which is the one I’m talking about).

Check this one out instead 😃:

I  see 1440p vs 4k it is.

Yet 4K HDR display requires DP 1.4 or HDMI 2.0a

That is true, but why would it have the VESA DisplayHDR 400 certification if it’s not HDR usable? 😯

HDR400 is so bad that at that point I would not bother with HDR at all.
