Questions:

1/ Ryzen 7 3700X or will Ryzen 5 3600 / Ryzen 5 3600x be enough?

2/ What CPU cooler is best for this build - can I use a slim cooler (case fits a bigger cooler but if I can reduce noise that would be cool)?

3/ Also, should I go with 3600Mhz RAM?

4/ Is the SSD good?

5/ Is a WIFI 6 board necessary? Can I get away with a WIFI 5 board for a while/replace the wifi chip later on?

Thanks in advance for any responses.

  1. 3600x is something you should ignore if you are willing to overclock the 3600 (because thats basically all it is). 3700x is pretty good but buy the cpu used. It makes no difference weather the cpu is new or used. they will perform identically and you will save money.
  2. bigger coolers are usually quieter because they make it easier to cool (so fan speed can be reduced)
  3. 3200mhz is plenty fast and won't make much difference (expect 3-7% increase by going with 3600mhz)
  4. ssd is good
  5. wifi 6 is useless if the router does not also support it. both parts need to support wifi6 for it to work.

Note: buy as many parts used if doing so does not result in loss in performance. so, buy the CPU, RAM, motherboard, and the case as used. you could save $50-ish by going used.

3600 is more than enough for any games today as they don't scale up to 8 cores.

The GPU is better. Unless you need nvec a 5700xt will generally be better.

Changed the drive, the p1 is decent but it's qlc. The a2000 should be better.

As for the case. You chose a great case lol.

But you could go with either one really.

PC: Motherboard: ASUS B550M TUF-Plus, CPU: Ryzen 3 3100, CPU Cooler: Arctic Freezer 34, GPU: GIGABYTE WindForce GTX1650S, RAM: HyperX Fury RGB 2x8GB 3200 CL16, Case, CoolerMaster MB311L ARGB, Boot Drive: 250GB MX500, Game Drive: WD Blue 1TB 7200RPM HDD.

Peripherals: GK61 (Optical Gateron Red) with Mistel White/Orange keycaps, Logitech G102 (Purple), BitWit Ensemble Grey Deskpad.

Audio: Logitech G432, Moondrop Starfield, Mic: Razer Siren Mini (White).

Phone: Pixel 3a (Purple-ish).

Thanks for the suggestion... Are you talking about GPUs?  Considering the coronavirus situation, wouldn't there be delays too?

not only GPUs, but Zen 3 (ryzen 4000 series) as well

haven't heard about any delays yet, but they are rumored to be released near the end of this year.

Couple of questions:

What type of games and programs will scale up to 8 cores?
I was thinking about Ray tracing in terms of the GPU.

What is "qlc"?

Lol, you seem to be a big fan of the case haha.

4 layer nandflash. Not good for a consumer user essentially.
