My friend just bought a gtx 1660 super. He wants to upgrade his memory/ram from 8 gb to 16gb. Do you get more fps/performance by upgrading the memory?

If you're running low on memory when playing games, adding more memory would smooth things out.

If he's constantly maxing out his memory or if he's only got one stick of memory running in single-channel, yeah an additional 8GB stick will offer an improvement in performance.

He is using 2x4 sticks

Then he should add in another 2x4GB kit, preferably a similar one to the one he's already using (particularly speed and timings).

Well. I actually suggested him to buy 2x8 gb sticks (Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4-3200) because the other ones are pretty old..

Well, mixing similar memory kits already isn't guaranteed to work, and ones that don't match even less so.

Does he need 24GB of RAM? 16GB is plenty really for most people.

Oh, yeah, that's also an option, but it'd just be more expensive.

Yeah. But i think he would rather buy totally new ones since he alwways complains about the performance.... And honestly i don't think you can find the exact ram that he owns atm... They are way too old lol
