A decent 550w unit. A budget one like a cx550 should be decent.

Or a straight Power 11 500w.

I have a computer with

AMD Phenom II X4 925 @3.2 Ghz (95w),

2x4Gb kingston ddr2 ram,

Asus m2a mx mobo,

500gb hdd

and Asus Strix R9 380 Oc edition 2gb gpu

how many watts do i need to power this thing 10 hours a day?

(My generic brand 2 months old 450w just exploded today 1 hour after changing my gpu from gt710 to r9 380)

Look for a CX550 (not the old green label CX500/600, but the new 2017 grey label model).

I love the cx line. I usually recommend it. But it's overpriced at the moment. OPs whole system is worth $150 max.

Get this:

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07NWZQX1J/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_DUUiFbHTGFRZP

Don't be scared by the Apevia name. It's actually a decent andyson unit. The CX is better but you need a real budget unit for your setup. Unless you plan on moving it to a new system soon.

I mean, it depends on where OP's going to purchase the PSU from. In the UK for example the CX450 is available at near MSRP. (the CX550 is a little overpriced but the TX550M is available at its regular price)

Of course, there are other options too, like the be quiet! Pure Power 10/11, System Power 9, EVGA B3, or even an older decent unit like a Pure Power L8 530W/630W.

I don't know why I assumed that Op was in the US. I must have been looking at something else.

msrp is still overpriced though. I remember buying a cx 550 for $25 after rebate lol.

Given the choice though overpriced PSUs are much better than overpriced GPUs and CPUs so can't really complain.

Depends where OP lives.  And the cx is not the only option really. There are other like the system power 9 or the straight power 11/10.

I have a really tight budget and there is a 500 w 80+ psu + case combo. Should I go for it?

First of all. Efficiency is not quality. Second of all there are almost no PSUs that are decent that come with a case. Don't cheap out on one. Something cheap but won't explode.

Cv550.

Vs550.

Something better.

MWE bronze V2.

Something good and is a decent budget option.

Cx550.

So, I found a "Cooler Master MWE 550 80+ White". I know Cooler Master is a really good brand when it comes to making cases, cpu coolers, etc. but I'm not familiar with their power supplies. Are they any good?

Just like any brand. They make good and bad units.

If that's the MWE v2. Not the worse thing in all honesty. Would still run something better with a 380 but it Technically does the job.

I will take some pictures for you in 3 days but there is nothing to see on the outside. I think the capacitors exploded.

Something like this happened:

Unfortunately, I live in Turkey and even the low quality ones cost about 45 usd.

(There is a tax for nearly everything here because (not to get political) "The Tall Man" needs money.)

Shine a light in to the PSU and look through the fan grill or exhaust grill and see if you can see anything that looks burnt. If you can try and take a photo of the area through the fan grill.

There is a couple of dings here and there (which I don't know what caused them) but I was surprised to see none of the capacitors were exploded. Then I saw a broken fuse (I thought this psu didn't have one).

Thanks for the pics. That PSU is a piece of junk (but you probably didn't need me to tell you that xD).

Have you bought a new PSU yet or are you still looking?

Much better than what you previously had.

Are you planning on keeping the Phenom II system or are you upgrading it?
