Ryzen 3 1200 suddenly underperforming

Hi everyone.

Since 2 weeks ago my PC is gravely underperforming when gaming, and I don't know why.
A good example is Fortnite. I used to play this game on my PC only, and it worked great. At least 120 FPS with the Ryzen 3 1200 and a 1060 3GB.

I just booted it up again to play with a friend, and it's just an absolute lagfest. My whole pc slows down, it stutters like crazy and even the sound lags.

I honestly don't know what it could be. but I suspect that it's my CPU since it's always at 100% when gaming.

The only difference I've made in my setup is that I added some studio equipment like a mic and interface with software, but nothing crazy.

I've checked the temperatures to see if that was causing it but it seems fine. The CPU is 42C when idle and around 50C when gaming.

Anyone any ideas?

Where's the CPU and GPU usage at when gaming? also clocks?

I don't know about the GPU usage, but the CPU usage hardly ever dips down from 100% when gaming. The clock speed of my processor is 3.10GHz

Click the graph and show each logical core.  If you are at 100% usage on each core then you will get audio lag, gaming lag, all the lags.  Need to identify whats using your CPU up.  Check task manager as well on current things running.

Usually it just shows the game taking up 100% of my CPU. CPU usage will go from 90-100% per core, lowest I've seen a core go is about 80% load on Core Temp. I've checked the Task Manager and first, it will be stuck on "System Interrupts" at a very high usage percentage and then it'll show the game taking up 90-100%. It's so strange as games that worked fine before don't work at all now, it's puzzling me. All my drivers are updated too, I'm just worried there's an audio driver conflict but I don't see how it could eat up my CPU. Edit: I play my games on an old HDD, could this have something to do with it? I notice, in Warzone for example, that when I don't turn around and just use my WASD to walk it actually plays okay, no stutters. The stuttering happens when I turn around using my mouse.

Have you added a new USB peripheral?  What version of Windows 10 (build) are you on currently?

Im going to take a guess/bet - its either the Windows build you are on (needs updates) or a change in USB situation (new mouse, USB hub, etc).  New mouse?

Nope.. not that I'm aware. My audio interface is connected via USB but that's all I can come up with. My Windows version is up-to-date.

Can a USB peripheral really make an impact on the whole PC like that though? I'm pretty new to all this

Yes, specifically if you are on older Win 10 builds (is your Win 10 on build 2004 which I believe is the current build).

Unplug USB audio, launch games, still lag?

Watch task manager while on desktop, idle doing nothing (CPU usage), start moving mouse around - does it spike?
