Could the integrated gpu on a cpu not work but the cpu still post and run?

I recently sold parts to a person, 3570k, asrock z77 pro 3, 8gb 1333mhz and a power supply, he says once he turns it on the fans ramp up and everything but nothing shows on monitor while using on board. However, once he installs a video card it works fine?

You said this twice?

It could also be a problem with the motherboard, it could be a bad monitor cable, it could be any number of things.

Always best to cover your ass than get stuck in situations like this, especially when there are so many variables and chances that he's either lying, or messed something up himself.

I'd get him to try a different cable for the monitor.

My two cents is that ESD did not kill the motherboard. I was using an anitistatic wrist strap, barefoot on hardwood floors. The motherboard was on the bag, not powered, for about 15 seconds when I realized I needed a new heatsink. Also, Linus said that you can put the motherboard on the bag as long as you do not plug it in.

You could try and reset the CMOS

I have tried resetting cmos.

It is never a good idea to put an electronic device on an anti static bag because the purpose of the bag is shield the inside from ESD.

can you check the bios for what its suppose to boot with ig or video card. And if not take out the cpu and look at the pins.
