External SSD and ps4

elias3

I want to put my external SSD into my ps4, to get more storage. I checked and it does work with ps4,but I don't know if I have to delete everything on it to make it work (I have a few games from my pc on it) and I might sound really stupid but I just want to make sure before i actually delete them if I need to.

As long as it is usb 3.0 any external ssd should work

Reminder⚠️

I'm just speaking from experience so what I say may not work 100%

What I mean is will the ps4 allow a few pc games alongside ps4 content.

Well if it’s external and not internal then I don’t think it will be special format so you maybe could partition it, don’t have the PC games with the files the ps4 read don’t think anything happens but wouldn’t risk

whenever you plug in any external storage into the PS4 it formats it into a format is unrecognizable by PCs

The PS4 doesn't like the external storage being removed.  Things like updates and the game database can have issues.
