Recently, the fan of my Toshiba Chromebook 2 goes off randomly at high speed. It does not depend on the load at all. I ran two CPU monitoring applications and here is the screenshot of them. 

One application +3C, the other one does not show temperature at all. One shows two cores 99% busy all the time, the other one does not give any data on two cores.

 

What's the problem? Software? Hardware? I may reapply the thermal grease, but something tells me that's not the problem. Thank you in advance for any hints and heads ups.

I'm inclined to say "Yes" :D

 

Sounds like either the sensors aren't working properly or the software isn't compatible with these particular sensors. Can you e.g. check temperatures in the BIOS?
