6GB RAM useable out of 16 GB RAM

So, I just was enjoying my time gaming and I wanted to play Grand Theft Auto, so, I opened up NVIDIA GeForce Experience and I saw that on my rig there's literally just written 6 GB RAM, I got a little confused so, opened up System Properties (if that's what u call it) and it said:

Installed Memory (RAM) : 16.0 GB (6.00 GB useable)

I headed to YouTube and there was a tutorial, which said that I should do the following steps:

  • Press Win+R & type msconfig32

  • Go to boot & select advanced options

  • Uncheck eh? what was it again??? yeah, the memory limit?

Well, after I did all those steps, I restarted my PC and it didn't solve my problem soooo, what should I do now? 😐

Try running Windows Memory Diagnostic (Win+R, Enter mdsched.exe into Run).

If you open your resource monitor through the task manager what does it say? Does it have the rest in standby? If so this is normal behaviour on windows 10.

The older Dell workstations had a BIOS issue in which it wouldn't recognize a large chunk of RAM. I know there's a BIOS fix for it, and I think it has to do with a Northbridge setting. I'll see if I can find it, but in the meantime, Googling "T5500 usable RAM" should get you off in the right direction.

I enjoy buying junk and sinking more money than it's worth into it to make it less junk.
