Does my CPU bottleneck my GPU

Go to solution Solved by t3chapt,

Nope, I have a rig running a GTX 680 (similar to the 770) and the same CPU, in most games the GPU bottlenecks the i7. But in my case i crank all the graphics settings aiming for 40ish fps, so, obviously i'm taxing the GPU much more than the CPU.

That's the system I got in my signature & my main question is: i7 3770k at stock speed (3.5ghz), can it bottleneck my GTX 770 or not? Actually, I'm not fan of overclocking, but is it necessary in my case?

Ok, thx for replies, also about physx I have 560. Should I keep it or get rid off?

Uh just take it out when you get your 770. And don't like get rid it of it in terms of garbage. Have it maybe as as backup or maybe the start of a second rig :D

Depends entirely on the game. The majority of the games wont be limited by the CPU but rather by the GPU, although that largely depends on the settings you use. For example if you try and run all games at around 120 fps you'll find the grand majority are limited by your CPU, the GPU will just go idle.

Its a far more complicated question and answer than just yes or no.

i think your reading into it to much i think all he is asking is if hes getting 40fps on battlefield 4 if he had a better cpu would he get 50fps.
