was wondering if a good cpu can make a huge difference in fps in valorant. i have a 2080S R5 3600 16gb ram 3000mhz and i play on low and get around 200-300 fps stable sometimes it drops to 170 but i was wondering if getting an 8 core cpu can get me stable 300 fps like streamers. if anyone knows from experience any help would be appreciated

no, the 3600 is a good cpu, and games dont scale up to 8 cores, the performance will be similar if not the same.

i dont play that game, but i would not complain if i got 200-3000 fps, they seem fine to me.

what panel do you use? 240hz? 300hz?

those are some good fps numbers imo

-sigh- feeling like I'm being too negative lately

answer still remains the same, games do not scale up to 8 cores, the performance will be similar if not the same.

alright thanks but actually my friend has a 1080 ti and i9 9900k and gets higher fps so shouldnt i be getting higher. just seems weird to me since his processor is 8 cores and mine is 6 though his is on 4.7ghz idk if that could be a crucial aspect in a game like valorant

then i wouldnt worry bout it too much, as long as it's above your refresh rate

sure you'll get reduced input lag with higher fps due to more frequent updates

but from 170fps (5.9ms per frame) to 240fps (4.2ms per frame), you're only dropping about 2ms

and i dont know if valorant can be scaled across much more cores than what the 3600 offers WELL

you might see a small benefit, or none at all

if you do want the best FPS, intel still wins at high FPS afaik, but again, the difference is so miniscule idk if it's worth it

A 9900K is simply better for single threaded tasks. and the 3600 does have more latency since well it's 2 ccxs and an interconnect compared to one ccd/ccx on the 9900k.

and while yes frequency is not the only thing that makes a cpu, but that does not take away from the fact that the 9900k still boosts higher and has less latency.
