Hello

Intel 9700k (4 months old)

Z390 Aorus Pro MoBo (4 months old)

Corsair H100i

16GB Ram

EVGA Gold PSU (~4 years old)

GTX 1070 (~6 years old

PC worked fine for years, 4 to 5 months ago I upgraded CPU and Mobo. Everything has worked fine since, PC has been really quick. Then today I got up to do some stuff and left my pc running, when I got back i noticed it had turned off. Went to turn it back on, now the fans spin and lights come on for a second before turning back off. There is a red CPU light on the motherboard.

Any ideas? I highly doubt my CPU/mobo died, maybe more likely the PSU?

I'd test another CPU then go to a PSU. Sounds like something went funky with the CPU while you were gone. If its still getting power for a couple seconds it maybe more likely the CPU.

If you have a spare PSU around I would try it. In the off chance you have another CPU you can try swapping it. Have you done any overclocking?

Wouldn't even say a few seconds. It's literally flash lights on maybe 1 second max but yeah in the past when PSUs died there would be a bad electrical smell and nothing when button pressed

I hope you get it sorted! I've had my fair share of PC parts just quitting :P

Really weird, I have EVGA PSU and it has this EcoAssist switch on the back. Turned it off and now the PC turns on fine, even booted right up to my previous session lol

Wonder if this could mean my PSU is on its way out. I've had the eco assist on for 4 years never any issues
