Hi, so I have recently bought, a Kolink Observatory case for my first ever build, but it turned out this case is too small for my CPU cooler, which is Cooler Master Masterliquid ML240L v2I think in my case its not fitting in because the RAM is to high i guess (im a newbie in PC building), because I've seen it fit in the same case for other people. My ram is Patriot Viper Steel 16 4000mhz and the motherboard is MSI MPG Z490 Gaming Plus ATX.

Im hoping some of you will know what case would be good for these parts. I was thinking about CoolerMaster TD500 Mesh, but Im not sure if it will fit in this case too. Any ideas? I would like a case with similar design, also nothing too expensive around $140. Thanks !

There's no way ram will limit your case options

That cooler should definitely fit in the case though, and around the ram. You need to take another look, read through your manuals and make sure you're installing everything correctly

Use PCPartPicker and select all your parts, it has a compatibly filter. So it will show all the compatible cases.

The TD500 Mesh will be compatible though, and is a great airflow option, I can recommend that as a choice. Other good cases include the Corsair 275R airflow or 220T Airflow, Fractal Design Meshify C TG, and the Phanteks P400A.

I think what he means is:  he wants to put the 240 Radiator in the top of the case and with the fans it interfers with the RAM modules. But without knowing what case he has, it's just guessing.

@Xrq when you post for help on a hardware problem, ALWAYS list ALL of your components (use a PCPartpicker list so you can easy re-use for a next post). It's makes helping much easier.

Edit: Is the CoolerMaster TD500 Mesh your actual case? I didn't get that...

The TD500 Mesh can fit a 280/360 rad on top and the front. You'll be fine with that selection BUT with that being said I would explore other options such as the P400A, P500A, Lancool 2 Mesh, NR600 and 500DX.

Ähm.. actually the TD500 explicitly says "44mm max motherboard component height"  with top  mounted radiators... the Patriot Viper Steel 16 is 44.4mm.. so he might get in trouble here.

Oh I didn't see that. Apologies and cheers for the notice.

I tried every single way, if the case was taller by like 1cm it would probably fit a the top. The only way I could fit it in at the front panel but its really too much effort for me

I will probably go with the TD500, just waiting what other people will say.

Yes thats what i meant. The case is Kolink Observatory it says in the first sentence

Here is the pcpartpicker https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/user/Xarlaq/saved/m9WHzy Ill add it in the first main post

so do you think the TD500 will be good or not?

Korben just mentioned that your ram is 0.4mm too tall for the TD500. So I'd see if the other cases I mentioned are compatible.

You could mount the radiator in the front in both cases, but I guess that wouldn't look good. So you either

- switch to a 360mm AiO (for the front)

- switch to air cooling (both cases seem very good for air cooling)

- switch the RAM with a height less than 44mm

- search for a case that fits a top 240 rad with your memory or has front that suits a 240 rad...

what about lancool II Mesh, I cant find any info about the max height for the ram

Front mounting isn't the best for an AIO. When the liquid permeates into the tubes over time and air gets introduced into the CPU PUMP block it ends up in a grinding noise which affects the lifespan and performance over time. Gamersnexus did a better explanation of why not to front mount AIO rads.

Can't (or don't want) to check it out since Lian-Li's certificate for the webpage ran out today *g*.

But according to the pictures I saw it has not much space in the top either.. .sorry.

The only case I could look up quickly that kind of fits your taste is Thermaltake View 51 TG.

It looks like you can move the top mounting for fans/radiators sidewards, away from the mainboard (please check that yourself, I just took a quick glance)

BUT: it's not meshed.. the front is glas, which I think is a bad choice for airflow.

I guess you can't change the RAM modules? (sell them and buy new ones... it may cost you some money but make your case choice much easier).

Ok maybe lets forget about a 'fancy' looking case, but just any good looking case, with good airflow that will be able to fit in the AIO at the top? for around $120?

What about Fractal Design Meshify C ?

The Meshify C came to my mind too, but it seems it has the same limits, as, I guess most cases have since this big RAM modules are quiet uncommon.

Sorry, but my advice still is to get rid of the RAM and get some with smaller dimensions. This way you can use your Kolink case, obvious your first choice in cases.
