Yeah I will tomorrow to be fair I don't know if there is signs of USB controllers dying but now that I think about it for a while randomly my usbs when I get to the login screen sometimes won't turn on right away and would take a few seconds or longer

i recommend getting pc to a place to troubleshoot if you can 

if it was useful give it a like :) btw if your into linux pay a visit here

So I got a ps/2 connector and tried to plug in keyboard and mouse and neither of them worked.

Looking like something fried your MB, you'll probably have to get a new one. I recommend getting one from a local retailer so just it case that somehow doesn't work you can just return it. But that's your best likely option and would also be way cheaper than fixing the one you have.
