Hi I am trying to buy a m.2 ssd but don’t know what type will fit my motherboard I have a Asrock B365m IB-R  I am new to the pc master race any help would be greatly appreciated

This is the AsRock B365M Pro4, right?

The top slot supports M.2 PCIE SSD's, the bottom slot supports both type of M.2 (PCIE and SATA):

(product page of the motherboard).

I would recommend something like the Kingston A2000, Sabrent Rocket (not Q) or ADATA SX8200

Size M.2 SSD? That's indicated by the 22xx just before what I marked in both lines.

2280 is the most common size, which is 80mm long. Basically all M.2 SSD's are 2280, but as you can see; 42mm and 60mm will fit in both slots and even 110mm M.2 SSD's will fit in the bottom slot.

Although again, 2280 is the vastly more common size you'll find.

If you meant size as in GB/TB, there is no practical limit to that.
