Doesn't it have a USB connection that needs to be plugged in to control the RGB?

I know the cooler that comes with the 2700X did, but I never plugged it in.  The 2700X has the Prism, right?

Yea, I think 2700x, 3700x 3800x and up come with the Prism.

I have mine plugged into my 8700K on a regular fan header and all the RGB is on. It just does the demo rainbow puke all the time.

when my computer first turns on the fan led lights up but once i get to the Microsoft sign in part the led turns off. the ring led is on but the fan led isn't. does anyone know how to fix this

If your mb doesnt have a rgb connection, you have to plug the fan into a usb header. Also, you need to download software to control the rgb. I use coolermaster and it works great with the prism cooler.

Tell me more about how you mounted it on Intel please.

I have custom mounting bracket.....but....

Right now it's been removed and cpu under water block.

The fan was removed and now cooling my VRMs.

The heatsink went into my HTPC and used the square fan from the wraith max which is the same but without RGB. Wanted the RGB on my bench rig for the eye candies.

You can see the bracket in the picture. I removed the AMD clip and used that bracket instead and clipped the fan back on.

  • 1 month later...

I have a problem with the cooler where only the AMD logo and the Fan lights up. The LED ring does not light up at all.

I am using the cooler with the USB control, and am able to change the colour of the AMD log and FAN LEDs using the Cooler software.

Does anyone know why the ring LED does not work?

The wires inside the case of the fan housing are pretty small. There's a chance the ring LEDs wire came disconnected.

Not super difficult to disassemble, the hardest part is unclipping the fan housing from the cooler.
