Is this possible

Go to solution Solved by Whaler_99,

For CPU - go into the Advanced view panel - edit the CPU slot - typical in there it list the number of cores. So a 3770k would be able to have up to "8" cores. Just change that number. Make it a multiple of two. And, you will still see activity across all cores, just less.

Can I dedicate a certain amount of cores to f@h? How?

so if I want 4 cores getting used I should set it to 8?

no 4 :) if your cpu has like 4 cores and 4 threads you will have to set 4 in the field i think euhm yes devided by 2.

Don't listen to me i think thats wrong.

Read what whaler said. 8 is correct.

Everyone is confused. You have to remember, FAH counts hyper threading as individual cores. So, if you have a 3570 for example, you have max 4 cores. If you have a core i7 though, most which have HT, then you have the extra cores, so a 3770 which has 4 cores, with HT, FAH would see 8 cores...

Now, just put in the number of cores (real+HT) you want FAH to use. In the case of say the 3570, I only want it using two, so I enter 2... for the 3770 - I only want it using 6 of the 8 - so put in 6. Only want it using 2... here again, put 2.

Now, I could go on about the HT issues, that it is a virtual CPU and with FAH you can have some issues, so going to only 4 cores may not actually reduce the consumption as much as you think... but I digress. :)
